Life Is a Balancing Act: A Clean House vs. Quality Time🌿

Hello, long time no chat! December was full in the best and busiest ways, and I needed to step back a moment!
Â
But I am back now and hoping some of you are still here reading along with me! 🤍
Â
Lately, I’ve been realizing just how much of motherhood — honestly, how much of life — is one big balancing act. A clean house vs. quality time. Productivity vs. presence. Structure vs. spontaneity. The list goes on.
Â
The month of December was crazy for, work schedules, a trip to Mexico, the holiday's.. I was feeling heavy, I was feeling bogged down. My first instinct was stress and panic, there simply isn't enough time in the day to keep my world perfectly spinning.
Â
But then, I stop and realize I don’t need to put an expectation on everything, I just need to focus on what actually matters.
Â
Some days I feel like I’m doing it all…
Other days it feels like everything is slipping through the cracks.
Â
And I am hear to tell you - that is okay!
Â
I’ve been learning that balance doesn’t always look like doing everything at once. Sometimes it looks like getting things done. Sometimes it looks like sitting on the floor playing instead of tackling the to-do list. Sometimes it looks like being a mom when my kids need me most, being a wife when my marriage needs tending, and being Syd when my own heart needs a moment to breathe.
Â
I’m realizing that I don’t have to show up as every version of myself perfectly, every single day. I just have to show up as the version that’s needed right now.
Â
And that shift — from pressure to presence — has changed everything.
Â
Lately, I’ve been leaning into a rhythm of routines and small rewards — pushing myself to get things done, while also giving myself grace in how I do them. Folding laundry while watching my favorite show. Doing a quick toy pickup so we can unplug and spend time together. Letting the house be imperfect while still celebrating the little wins.
Â
It doesn’t always have to be a full reset to feel like progress.
Â
Checking off even the smallest things on my list has become its own kind of motivation. A swept floor. An empty sink. One load of laundry folded and put away. Tiny tasks, yes — but they are adding up, one by one.
Â
I’m learning that productivity doesn’t have to mean burning myself out. Sometimes it looks like pairing chores with something enjoyable. Sometimes it looks like choosing connection and trusting that the mess will still be there later.
Â
And in this season, that balance feels like a win.
Â
Right now, Hughes is in a big book phase, and sometimes that means pushing off a task just to read one more story. The vacuum can wait. The counters can stay messy a little longer. Because in that moment, what he needs most is me sitting beside him, turning pages, soaking in the way his little voice gets excited about every page.
Â
Those are the moments I’m learning to choose more often — the ones that don’t check anything off my list, but fill my heart completely.
Â
And funny enough… the house always gets cleaned eventually.
But these seasons? They don’t last forever.
Â
Here's a reality, somedays success means the laundry is folded and put away, the floors are swept, and dinner is planned and prepped.
Other days it means I read a dozen books, kissed scraped knees, and play "police and bad guys" a little longer than I mean to.
Â
Both are important to me.
Â
Learn to let go of the guilt!! The guilt of choosing play over your "productivity", rest over rushing, connection over checking off one more thing on my list! I am here to tell you that this season of life isn't meant to be perfect.. It's meant to be lived!
Â
There will always be another load of laundry, another mess to clean, another task waiting for you.
Â
But know these little moments!
They are going by fast!
Â
So for now, I am choosing presence when I can. Grace when I fall short! And the reminder that being a good wife, mom, and human doesn't depend on doing everything - it means doing what matters most in the moment!
Â
If you're in a season where life feels loud, messy, busy, and full all at once… you're not alone!
Â
You're doing better than you think! 🤍
